Hurry to Marry Me

Author: : Emillie Brain
Genre: Romance
Benjamin Longman always thought that his lover Kay Jones was hurt by Nelly Jones, so that Kay became a vegetable. So he married Nelly, then treated her like a servant, often humiliating her at any time. After two years of marriage, Nelly had always had a glimmer of hope for Benjamin, who did, after all, pay for her mother's medical bills. But when Kay woke up, she realized how ridiculous her expectations were. At the same time, Nelly's mother died. She became sadder and she said,"Benjamin, I don't need you anymore, let's get a divorce." Not until then did Benjamin realize that this woman had taken up the whole of his heart without his knowing it. He didn't want to lose this woman. And he couldn't afford to lose this woman. What is love? Maybe it's "I was in the middle before I knew that I had begun."

Chapter 1 A Troublesome Man

After Benjamin Longman got up from Nelly Jones's body, he frowned deeply as if he had just completed a troublesome task. Soon, he swung the door open and went out, leaving her who had newly lost her virginity alone.

They had been married for two years, but this was the first night they spent together. If she hadn't offended his pride, he wouldn't have occupied her body on impulse!

The next morning, Nelly was awoken by her body clock. But she felt sore and limp, and when she looked down, she saw bruises on her waist.

She collected herself, got dressed, and washed up. The more Benjamin wanted to ridicule her, the more resolute she was to live a better life.

When she went downstairs, Benjamin was talking with his mother. Even though they heard her footsteps, they didn't bother to look up.

Carelessly, she curled her lips and walked past them...

"Oh, whose daughter is she? Doesn't she know any courtesy?"

Nelly turned around and greeted indifferently, "Mom."

Alison Bird put down the teacup in her hand and glanced at Nelly. "I've told you many times. You're not qualified to call me mom. In my heart, Kay Jones is my real daughter-in-law. I'll feel more comfortable if you call me Aunt Alison."

"I see, Aunt Alison." Nelly sneered in her heart.

When Nelly had just got married, it had been Alison who insisted she be called "mom", rather than "Aunt" which sounded unpleasant to her ear.

But after learning from the doctor that Kay was very likely to revive, Alison suddenly turned against Nelly and became reluctant to be called mom.

After greeting, Nelly couldn't wait to leave this suffocating mansion. Just then, Benjamin asked, "Where are you going?"

"To visit my mom," she replied briefly.

After a moment of silence, he suddenly said, "Wait a minute. I'll drive you there."

Huh?

Nelly blinked in disbelief. During these two years, he had never visited her mother even once.

What was wrong with him today?

There was a newly-built community in the east of City A. Tami Walker, Nelly's biological mother, was living alone on the 12th floor in a loft apartment.

The red sports car attracted some people's attention in this ordinary residential area. Nelly got out of the car first with fruit and dried food and greeted the neighbors kindly.

Benjamin, in the driver's seat, rolled down the window and noticed her smiling face. He was stunned. How long hadn't he seen her smile?

Forget it.

He looked away and resumed his calmness. It didn't matter to him whether she was happy or not.

The corridor of the apartment was not wide enough for two people to pass at a time. Benjamin put his hands in his pockets and raised his chin arrogantly, signaling her to lead the way.

Nelly nodded and wanted to pass from behind him. But he was too big that she had to flatten herself against the wall to move ahead.

When she walked past him, he suddenly stretched out a hand and locked her between the wall and his body. His aggressive manner embarrassed her.

"Wh-what do you want to do?" Nelly stared at him alertly.

He sneered at her unnecessary resistance. "We've done what we should do. There's nothing to feel shy about. I just want to ask you something. Have you ever spoken ill of me in front of your mother?"

Who you are like is self-evident!

It was clear what a mother would think of her son-in-law who hadn't visited her once for two years.

But Nelly just said, "No."

He was suspicious. "If I know you talk behind my back, I'll... give you an unforgettable punishment!"

"Nell, is it you?" Hearing the sound of the door, Tami walked out of the kitchen in an apron.

"Yes," Nelly replied with a smile as she changed into her slippers. "Mom, see who's with me."

Tami's gaze shifted to the man appearing at the door.

It was a strange face, but somewhat familiar.

Admittedly, Benjamin had such a handsome face that anyone could recognize him quickly even though people had only met him once.

"Ah! Is it Mr. Longman?" Surprised and confused, Tami looked at Nelly inquiringly.

Seeing Nelly nodded, Tami hurried forward to greet him and said nervously and excitedly, "Mr. Longman, you came so suddenly. I didn't prepare anything to entertain you..."

He lowered his eyes slightly. "Don't bother. I was just worried about Nelly going out alone and drove her over."

Tami was surprised. Then, she asked tentatively, "Have you had lunch? If you don't mind, you can stay to..."

"I said, don't bother!" He frowned, showing great impatience with Tami's hospitality.

Nelly clenched her fist with strength.

Now that he looked down upon her family, why did he bother to condescend to come here?

Humph! Did he mean to upset her mother on purpose?

Chapter 2 You Can't Insult My Mother!

Nelly was angry about how he treated her mother. "Now that I've arrived here safely, can Mr. Longman get out now?"

"Nell, don't talk to Mr. Longman like this!" Tami dragged her daughter's sleeve nervously.

"Mom!" Nelly frowned, but she couldn't blame her mother for her humbleness. When Tami suffered from leukemia, it was Benjamin who helped her pay the high operation fees.

With a favor owed and a low status, she didn't want Nelly to conflict with Benjamin because of her.

Just then, Benjamin said, "I'll go, but you must go with me."

"Are you joking? I've just arrived!"

"Haven't you seen her? That's enough," he ordered peremptorily.

"I'm not leaving!" she refused.

"You're not leaving? All right, then don't go back to the Longman's. Stay here as long as you please." He gave her a glance, knocked his toecaps against the ground softly, and left without any concern.

"Wait, Mr. Longman!" Tami tried to stop him while pushing Nelly to him. "Mr. Longman is right, there's nothing to worry about. Go back and live a good life with him. I'm fine here."

Nelly felt a surge of sadness.

She knew how hard her mother's life had been these years.

If she left the Longman's, the debts her uncle had owed and Tami's treatment fees would crush this fragile family in an instant.

"Didn't you say you would stay? Why did you come down?"

In the driver's seat, Benjamin rested an arm over the window, holding a burning cigarette with his fingers. His sharp eyes, veiled by smoke, had a touch of a bohemian.

"Didn't you say you were leaving? Why are you still here?" she also asked.

Knowing her underbellies, this man always knew how to make her obey his will!

"I've been counting how long it takes to make you execute my order. It turns out you're not that unruly," He said playfully as if he was praising a loyal dog.

Being with him for so long, she had mastered a special skill, which was to filter out unpleasant words. She looked at the front and asked where they were going.

He curled his lower lip, showing an amazingly wicked look. "The People's House In Paradise."

The People's House In Paradise was a famous nightclub in City A. Nelly had a bad hunch. "Why do you take me there?"

She didn't ask like "what are we going there for" because, clearly, that was a place he frequently visited.

She could turn a blind eye to his dissolute life, but it was too crazy to take her with him!

It made her feel sick thinking of how he would call other women "honey" or "dear."

Seeing the reluctance on her face, he drawled, "Do you remember what I said yesterday? Your skills are so awful. This is a good chance for you to observe and learn."

Asshole! What did he take her for?

She thought she could tolerate it, but it seemed she had overestimated her self-control,

She stared at his face and stressed every syllable as she said, "My skills are awful? I'm afraid not! It's you who need to learn how to flirt with a woman and make the process enjoyable. What a shame to be a failure on the bed!"

The car made a quick spin on the spot and squealed as it braked.

"What did you say? Say it again!" He held the steering wheel with strength as if he was choking a stupid woman.

What couldn't a man tolerate? His pride being challenged!

Well-pampered, Benjamin had been living a life of praises and flattery. Only a handful of people dared to criticize him. As for his masculine charm, she was the first person to doubt that!

"I say, you're impotent!"

Deliberately, she pronounced clearly and deafeningly, showing her resolution to rebel against him.

"Dammit!" He had a bad temper. Usually, he was cold to her because he didn't bother to talk to her. Only now did he know how irritating she was.

He thumped the steering wheel and dragged her slender arm, leaning over to block her mouth!

But she tilted her head to dodge, so his kiss fell on her smooth cheek.

To be honest, her skin was as dewy, soft, and fair as tofu, giving him an impulse to take a bite.

Being a wilful dandy, he really took a small bite on her skin. Nelly cried in a low voice, "Ah!"

"Are you a dog? Why do you bite me?"

Her pretty bright eyes blinked with anger and shyness.

Her blushing cheeks made her look lovely, but her slender eyes with tails slightly tilting upward gave her an opposite touch of coquetry.

As his lower abdomen tightened slightly, he felt an urge to occupy her again!

But he seemed to think of something and scolded, "Bitch."

He kissed her, bit her, and now even taunted her about seducing him. Nelly was irritated and amused. "Who are you scolding?"

He said without hesitation, "I'm scolding you! Both you and Tami Walker are bitches!"

Slap!

A sudden silence fell.

He stroked his aching cheek, his sharp eyes filled with fury. He glared at her and growled, "How dare you?"

The three words, just like a fierce storm, gave her a cold shiver.

But this time, she didn't intend to give in. "You can abuse me, but you can't insult my mother!"

He sneered, "Insult? I'm just telling the truth! It seems you don't know the definition of insult!"

He grabbed her collar and suddenly tore it off. The fragile fabric was ripped.

Under her sexy collarbones, her fair skin was half-revealed. The breaths in the car became faster and heavier.

"Don't touch me!" She held her torn collar and stared at him like a high-strung cat.

"Don't worry. I won't touch you." He smiled politely like a gentleman. But suddenly, he leaned over to open the door on her side and pushed her off.

As she stumbled, her ankle bore all her weight with her heels sinking into gravel. That felt bad.

Despite the pain on her sprained ankle, she kicked the innocent sports car with strength. Her face dark with rage, she scolded that Benjamin Longman was a moody dandy and a born eunuch!

Chapter 3 Drunk

Facing her slander, he just threw a casual glance at her. "You'd better save some energy. There are quite a few tramps here. Perhaps you have to run home after a while. Good luck. Bye..."

After saying that, the car swooshed away.

Exhausted by a long walk, Nelly had a look at her watch. Since she was thrown out of the car, it had been an hour. The soles of her feet were burning red.

"You bastard! Why didn't you throw my handbag out?"

She had no money to take a taxi. More terribly, this was near the suburbs. Few cars passed here, which made it difficult for her to take a ride.

All this way, she didn't meet any tramp but heavy rain.

She hid in a bus station. The words and signs on an old board had faded to some degree. She couldn't tell where the bus was going.

With torn clothes, wet hair, and no money, she looked just like a tramp.

Finally, a bus arrived. Its terminal was only a few roads away from the Longman's. But sadly, she couldn't even afford the fare of two yuan. Only then did she know how despairing it was to be penniless.

Fortunately, the driver was a kind-hearted man. Seeing how shabby she was, he thought she had confronted an assault. So he not only gave her a free ride but also asked if she needed to call the police.

She shook her head. She indeed wanted to call the police, but she guessed they would be freaked out after seeing the wanted man, the scion of the richest family in City A.

After going home, she walked around in the house under the disgusted stare of the maids. The water dripped onto the expensive imported carpet, which almost drove them crazy.

Nelly looked at the maids who appeared more like the hostess than her. "What are you looking at? Dry them up now."

Her mood couldn't be worse today. If these fence-stragglers were clever enough, they would know they'd better not provoke her.

"Tsk, what's there to show off? She's just squatted others' position! How dare she take herself as the real hostess?"

Facts proved that there were always people who were out looking for trouble. When Nelly had just gone upstairs, a maid talked behind her back.

Nelly smiled and looked down at all the maids. "Sometimes, it's also an ability to squat others' positions. If you're capable, you can also have a try. There will be great wealth for you to enjoy for a whole life. But sadly, you can't make it, because you have nothing to show off like me. Old Mr. Longman won't pay any attention to you."

Her words were just like a bomb that destroyed their daydreams of marrying into rich families. They hated, envied, and had a slap in the face.

Going through a long corridor, Nelly came to her bedroom. As she turned the knob, she paused and hesitated. Then, she looked at the opposite room. There was no light between the floor and the door. Benjamin was not back.

But it made sense. He had said he would go to the "paradise", an enjoyable love nest. How could he be back before a whole night of hilarity? She revealed a self-mockery smile.

After a comfortable bath, she applied some liquid medicine on her ankles and began reading under the light of a lamp. Just then, the phone on the nightstand buzzed.

She had a glance at the caller ID: Carlos Hanks.

He was Benjamin's childhood friend, one of the dandies in City A. When pregnant, their mothers had decided to pair the kids or develop sisterhood or brotherhood between them. This had been to further the cooperation between the two family enterprises.

Later, the women had given birth to two boys who were then raised as brothers sharing a pair of pants.

But Nelly didn't like Carlos.

After all, a normal woman wouldn't have a good impression of a dissolute man. Besides, she was playing the role of Benjamin's wife.

Birds of a feather flock together. Neither of the brothers was reliable.

The phone was still ringing. Carlos seldom called her unless Benjamin met trouble.

Recalling what had happened this day, Nelly felt an impulse to switch off her phone.

But after a while, she had to visit Old Mr. Longman who might ask her where his grandson was. As Benjamin's wife, she had the responsibility to give a sound explanation.

So she answered the phone and heard the noise of the People's House In Paradise.

As a cold glint crossed her eyes, she said in a flat tone, "Hello, I'm Nelly Jones. May I know what you are calling for?"

"Hi! Mrs. Jones, I'm Carlos Hanks. Why didn't you answer my phone? Don't you have my number in your phone?"

As he talked, he always ended a sentence with a voice up. His every word and every pause seemed to have the magic to fascinate all the women, but Nelly was an exception. "I know who you are. I just want to ask whether Benjamin Longman collided with others again."

Half a year ago, Benjamin had driven drunk and caused an accident. Only a relative could bail him out, so Carlos had asked her over immediately.

She had hurried to the police station and solved the dispute smoothly. While Benjamin, after a sound sleep, had driven off with a blonde the next second.

She had helped him clean up all the mess without sleeping for a night, but she hadn't even heard a word of thanks from him.

"No, no, but he doesn't feel good now. He's drunk! He's as drunk as a lord..." Carlos's voice sounded anxious. "Can you pick him up? We're..."

"The People's House In Paradise, right?" she interrupted. "I'm not going there. Why don't you drive him back?"

"Oh, please. We're all drunk. There are quite a few spots to check drunk driving nearby. If he's caught by traffic policemen, he'll trouble you again." he tried to reason with her.

She replied with silence. Why couldn't they hire a designated driver?

Just then, Carlos suddenly said in a mysterious whisper, "Most importantly, Benjamin has been murmuring your name after getting drunk."

Benjamin was murmuring her name?

Was that possible?

Nelly tried to be patient and reminded, "Mr. Hanks, are you sure it's not Kay? Although our surnames are the same, our first names are quite different."

"Well..." Carlos hesitated and said after a while, "Yes! I'm sure! Very sure! If you don't believe me, I can put the phone to his mouth and let you hear his voice!"

In the next one or two seconds, she caught the coquettish words like "Mr. Hanks, come and play with me", "Mr. Hanks, which woman has seduced you? Why don't you join us?"

With a hand on her forehead in disgust, she tried very hard not to hang up the phone. Finally...

"Nelly... Nelly... where, where are you..."

Although the voice was low and broken, she was sure it was Benjamin's.

He was really calling her? And he even cared about where she was?

Somewhat touched, she blurted out, "Which room are you in?"

Hearing the reply from Carlos, she hung up the phone hurriedly.
